Miller Park AMPHITHEATER

The Miller Park Amphitheater Project, located in Fontana, California, is a new addition to the park that features a permanent 2,000 SF covered stage (which replaces the small, portable stage that’s been used previously) along with a turf-grass performance viewing area with berms for elevated viewing, new concrete walkways, a paved dance floor, and decorative splash-pad.

The City of Fontana’s aim for the project was to transform the preexisting park into the premier entertainment destination for the community to enjoy. Miller Park was already known for their summer concerts and for being part of The Pacific Electric Trail Corridor which is a multi-purpose trail that links the cities of Montclair, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana and Rialto. The trail creates a beautiful common area that can be shared by commuters, pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians, and other non-motorized transportation and provides trail users convenient access to public facilities, such as Miller Park, and shopping destinations.

We had the pleasure to collaborate on the design and installation of the Splash-Pad with Aquatic Design Group and our in-house mosaic-artist Amanda Conahan. Aquatic’s design-intent was to provide an interactive splash-pad that accented the new Amphitheater and create a show piece for the community to enjoy.

The integrally-colored quarried stone finish and Lithomosaics reflects the pattern found on San Bernardino’s largest library adjacent to the site. Conahan drew inspiration from the library’s hand-painted Mexican tile by incorporating Gold, Yellow, and Blue tiles imported from Mexico and included iridescent tiles which provides a unique reflectivity of colors that shimmer and sparkle during the day. This is the perfect complement to the LED lights on dancing columns of water that provides a nighttime of endless possibilities.
